Why Is the Relationship between a Father and His Daughter So Special?

You’ve probably heard that having a strong male influence is important in a young boy’s life, but it’s equally important for daughters to have one as well. A positive father-daughter relationship can have a huge impact on a young girl’s life and even determine whether or not she develops into a strong, confident woman.

On the first day of their marriage, wife and husband agreed not to open the door for any visitor! That same day, the husband’s parents came to see them and knocked on the door. Husband and the wife looked at each other. The husband wanted to open the door, but since they had an agreement, he did not, so his parents left. After a while, the same day, the wife’s parents came visiting. Wife and husband looked at each other, and even though they had an agreement, the wife with tears on her eyes whispered and said “I can’t do this to my parents”, and she opened the door! Husband did not say anything. Years passed and they had 2 boys. Afterwards, they had a third which was a girl. The father planned a very big and lavish party for the newborn baby girl, and he invited everyone over. Later that night, his wife asked him what was the reason for such a big celebration for this baby, while we did not do so for the boys!

The Husband simply replied, “because she is the one who will open the door for me!”

One of the most beautiful things in this world is – A Father-Daughter relationship.

We now live in a culture where Dad is an equal partner in caregiving. From day one, dads are encouraged to be hands-on, changing diapers, giving baths, putting Baby to sleep and calming her cries. That presence and effort is the beginning of a very important relationship.

are so special.  However,  a daughter needs a dad to be the standard against which she will judge all men.  It is also the reason why are very influential in their daughter’s lives, especially when it comes to self-esteem and decision making.  A father may  hold his daughter’s hand for a short while, but she holds his heart forever.  Their inside jokes and understanding for each other make them absolutely adorable.

“How Dad approaches life will serve as an example for his daughter to build off of in her own life, even if she chooses a different view of the world,” says Michael Austin, associate professor of philosophy at Eastern Kentucky and editor of Fatherhood — Philosophy for Everyone: The Dao of Daddy.

Being a daughter with the best dad in the world, I really enjoyed and appreciated this post. I can totally relate to that daughter who opened the door for her daddy – I would lasso the moon and give the whole world to my dad if I could. 😊

So so sorry to hear that. We genuinely thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and wish you all the best for the future. God Bless

I lost my daddy six months ago. He was my hero growing up. So many quotes fit him and then some as he was one in a million. Thank you for the reminder how blessed I was/am for everything he instilled in me will remain forever.

Interesting. I had and have a great father. He often showed his affection to my mother. And he played with both of his daughters when we were little. It was great. But the man I married didn’t have a good influence as a father and didn’t really understand what being a father meant. It has been hard for my boys to learn to be dads because of it, but they are trying to be the dad they didn’t have. Strangely enough my oldest daughter had a better relationship with her dad and my youngest daughter and he are trying. Perhaps time and God–will heal broken hearts. Thankfully they have all learned the goodness of a heavenly father. Thanks for your post.

I find No. 15 quite strange. Love the sentiment behind this piece. My father died when I was 9 yo and though they say, “You can’t miss what you never had,” that’s not true even though I was 27 yo and having just come home from hospital with my 2nd son. I cried all night for my father, not him personally as I hardly remembered him, but for “a” father.

I didn’t have my father when I was growing up. My biological father was not a good man. After many years of abuse, abandonment and the torture inside my own head that I fought all the time, God sent me a spiritual Dad when I was 29. Although, I was an adult, this man came into my life, grandfathered my children and directed me to Jesus every single day. He is my HERO. Fathers are so important, but Dad’s are irreplaceable.
