Ubuntu is a Software suite based on Debian that is largely comprised of free and open-source technology. Ubuntu is formally offered in three editions: Desktop, Server, and Core for Connected devices and robots. All versions can run on their own computer or in a virtual environment. Ubuntu is a popular cloud computing operating system that supports OpenStack. GNOME has indeed been Ubuntu’s default desktop from release 17.10.

Ubuntu is published once every 6 months, with LTS releases every two years. One of most current long-term support edition as of 21 April 2022 is 22.04. (“Jammy Jellyfish”).
