Processor

A processor or processing unit is an electric device (digital circuit) in computers and computer sciences that conducts operations on an external data source, typically memory or another data stream. It is typically implemented as a microprocessor on a single metal-oxide-semiconductor integrated circuit chip. Previously, processors were built with many individual vacuum tubes, individual transistors, or several integrated circuits. Processors now have built-in transistors.
