WordPress match made in heaven
I have always been fond of WordPress, especially when starting out as it offered many options to extend the website’s functionality and thus endless possibilities. Let’s be honest, WordPress is king when it comes to blogging. But there are some new exciting alternative options which I will cover in another blog perhaps! Let me know in the comments. I digress.
Every WordPress website owner’s potential worst nightmare
The problem allmost all WordPress newcomers face is that a website can easily become bloated and painfully slow with all those dame plugins. And God help you if you’re on a dreaded shared hosting plan! It can be a vicious cycle, once you have everything you need in terms of website functionality, 50 plugins later you then start working out what plugins are not essential, in order to prevent the boat from sinking, so to speak. The good old sane goes, the more plugins, the more risk of a clash and a website crush! There is a real risk of being hacked and jacked, meaning the cash you’ll end up forking out to get the website back up will probably cost you way more than the shared hosting plans 3 year hosting cost. (You see, not all plugin developers are angles and play by the rules). Did i really say that, ooch! Well its the plain truth that some plugins are poorly coded and or contain things that would make my grandmother blush. You just can’t trust them all. So do your homework. Install too many plugins and you’ll perhaps get to experience the dreaded ‘white screen of death WSOD’. (The phrase “white screen of death” (WSoD) in IT refers to a particular error that occurs in Apple operating systems and other technologies wherein the user screen suddenly goes white. It is analogous to the) Every website owner’s potential worst nightmare. And you bet it will happen on a Friday afternoon when there’s no one to help.
Anyhow, I think you get the point…..right?
Ensuring adequate WordPress hosting to handle your dream project
So with the above in mind, you’ll better ensure first and foremost that you have adequate website hosting to handle your dream projects potential spikes in traffic and a good backup system. Take it from someone who has been through all of the above and much more……….
A cloud hosting starter plan like the one offered by HostRooster, packs enough power to handle a starter blog. But the good part is that it’s scalable and has the ability to increase or decrease IT resources as needed to meet the changing demand of your expanding dream project. Scalability is one of the hallmarks of the vstack cloud offering and the primary driver of its exploding popularity with businesses around the world. You see unpredictable traffic spikes can make or break any web application and that goes without exception for WordPress cms. So you’ll want to make sure your WordPress app can handle scaling demands. But do remember no matter how fast a server is, if you install gazillions of WordPress plugins without any thought care or consideration, it will be slow. No way around that im afriad. Drop me a comment if I’m wrong?
WordPress lessons learned from the past
I remember hosting several WordPress-powered websites using a shared hosting plan and at some point, all of them got hacked. In fact, some slowed down so much that I couldn’t even get back into them. You see a hacker can purchase a shared hosting plan just like you and become your neighbor on the same server. They could run spam and phishing websites to steal data from your visitors and store malicious files and folders which could result in a Google Penalty. (A Google penalty means that the rankings for your targeted keywords have dramatically dropped or that your website is no longer listed in the search results at all.)
This is one of the primary reasons I recommend cloud hosting for serious website owners. And some advice would be to obtain the services of a WordPress technician to help fine tune your dream website and prepare it for that potential future spike in traffic, sooner rather than later.
