HostRooster Identity Verification Policy

At HostRooster, our priority is building trust among our community of hosts and guests. While no identification process is foolproof, we are committed to taking measures that inspire confidence in the authenticity of our users. To achieve this, we have established procedures to verify the identity of our hosts and guests.

Hosts, new Co-Hosts, and booking guests are required to undergo identity verification. When you sign up to become a host or book a stay, we may request personal information, such as your legal name, address, phone number, and contact details. We may also ask for a photo of your government ID and a selfie. Certain Experiences may also require identity verification.

Reasons for Identity Verification:

  • Prevent fraudulent behavior
  • Conduct background checks where legally permitted
  • Detect account compromise
  • Investigate safety and security matters like theft, assault, or fraud

How the Process Works:

As part of the identity verification process, you might need to provide:

  • Personal information: This information may be sufficient for verification.
  • Photo of your government ID: Examples include a passport, driver’s license, or identity card.
  • Selfie: A photo along with your government ID may be required.

Note: If hosting as a business, additional verification information might be necessary.

Bookings:

Guests must complete identity verification for stays and Experiences.

Hosts:

New hosts must complete identity verification before a listing or an Experience can be made live on the platform.  Completion of verification is necessary to avoid calendar blocking.

Data Management:

Only authorized personnel and third-party providers have access to your submitted information, which is stored and transmitted securely. We retain data as long as required by law and compliance needs.

Host Requirements:

Hosts may ask for ID during check-in if it’s required under local laws or house rules.

HostRooster’s identity verification process is designed to enhance safety, security, and trust within our community, fostering an environment where hosts and guests can confidently engage in unique and enriching experiences.
